Woven
The Woven series is an exploration of harmony through contrast—where light and dark, bright and muted, warm and cool coexist side by side. In these works, I layer color in a way that recalls the patchwork rhythms of quilts and the intricate surfaces of medieval tapestries. Each painting becomes a kind of textile in paint, a constructed surface where fragments and tones interlock like threads.
Embedded within these quilt-like structures are line drawings of human figures, quietly present and often only revealed through close looking. These figures serve as subtle reminders of our shared humanity—woven into the fabric of history, memory, and imagination.
I am drawn to the visual and symbolic richness of quilts and tapestries: their ability to tell stories, preserve culture, and provide comfort. In translating these inspirations into painting, I hope to create spaces that feel both peaceful and contemplative.
The Woven series is, at its core, about creating a quiet world where color, pattern, and form work together like interlaced threads—inviting stillness, reflection, and connection.
